Before publishing: only three details are still yours to fill in: [DEVELOPER / COMPANY NAME], [ADDRESS OR "an independent developer"] and [SUPPORT EMAIL] (the support email appears four times). Remove this box when done. Confirm the Advertising section matches the ad setup you actually ship (it is written for Google AdMob with non-personalized, non-child-directed settings).

Who this policy covers

This policy explains what information Splorb ("the app," "we," "us") collects when you play, and how it's used. Splorb is developed by [DEVELOPER / COMPANY NAME], [ADDRESS OR "an independent developer" if a sole proprietor]. If you have questions, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL].

Safety by design, in short

Information we collect

Splorb has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, phone number, contacts or precise location. The first time you open the game online, it creates a random anonymous player ID and a secret access key. The key stays on your device, and our server keeps only a one-way hash of it. The following is stored on our servers, linked to that anonymous ID:

DataWhy we keep it
Best scores, and each score you submit to a leaderboard (with the game mode, date and how long the run lasted)Leaderboards, personal bests, and spotting impossible scores
The display name you choose (optional; shown publicly on leaderboards, and to your opponent during a Rival Orbit match)Leaderboards and Rival Orbit
Reports other players send about a leaderboard name (the reported name, a reason, an optional short note of up to 140 characters written by the reporter, and the reporter's anonymous player ID)Keeping leaderboards free of offensive names; a report is kept only while that name is in use, and is deleted when the name is removed or either player erases their data
Rival Orbit live duels (an optional feature that pairs you with another player for one 60-second match): while you are searching and playing, our server briefly holds your anonymous player ID, your display name, and the scores each player sends during the match, and shows the other player your display name and score. There is no chat, voice or messaging, and the match is not stored: this information is discarded when the match ends or either player leavesPairing two players and running the match. Matches never award Stardust and never change a leaderboard
Friends (an optional feature): a short friend code that is created for your profile, the friend requests you send or receive, the list of players you are friends with or have blocked, and the fixed-choice pings (a cheer, a taunt or a nudge) and duel invitations you send or receive. Friends can see your display name, your leaderboard scores, whether you played today and your head-to-head record in duels against them. Pings carry no text you can write. Pings are deleted after 30 days; removing a friend or erasing your data deletes the restLetting you play with people you know: friends-only leaderboards, pings, challenges and duels
A backup copy of your year-in-review statistics (runs played, time played, merges, best score, which modes and times you played, how many duels you played and won, how many friends you added and pings you sent, and, for each current friend, how many duels you played and won against them)Showing "Your Year in Splorb", and restoring it if you reinstall the game or recover your profile
Scores that could not be sent while you were offline are kept on your device and sent when you reconnectLeaderboards (stored only on your device until sent)
Your device platform (iOS or Android)Compatibility and store purchase checks
Which days you played, and your streakStreaks and achievements
Selected and owned skins, Stardust balance, power-up counts, unlocked items and claimed achievementsSaving your progress and preventing tampering
Daily and weekly quest progress, Season Pass progress and claimed rewardsRunning quests and the Season Pass, and paying out rewards once
Purchase records (product, store transaction ID, status)Restoring purchases and financial record-keeping
Push notification token (only if you allow notifications)Sending streak reminders

Your IP address is used briefly to limit abuse (for example, to stop automated sign-ups). It is held in a temporary counter that expires within an hour and is not tied to your player profile. Our servers run on Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf.

Some settings and progress (for example sound preferences, unsent achievement progress, and the statistics behind your end-of-year "Your Year in Splorb" recap) are kept only on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else.

We do not sell your data and do not use it to build advertising profiles. See Advertising below for what your ad network may collect.

Playing against other people (Rival Orbit)

Players who duel each other have no way to communicate or share information of any kind. Rival Orbit has no chat, no typed text, no voice, no emotes or stickers, no links, no usernames to search, and no way to send contact details, files, images or messages. The only things either player ever sees of the other are the display name they chose and their live score during the 60-second match, and then the result (win, lose or draw). Opponents are matched at random, are never shown your player ID, location, device or any other detail, and cannot message you afterwards. The only thing an opponent can do after a duel is send you a friend request, which you can accept or decline, or switch off completely in the Friends screen. If you do not want a name to be seen, leave your display name empty and you will appear as "Anonymous Splorber". If you see an inappropriate name, you can use Report. Duels never store a match history or the scores, never reach a leaderboard and never earn or spend Stardust. Only a count of the duels you played and won is kept, in your year-in-review statistics (and, for a duel between friends, in your head-to-head record).

Friends is separate, optional and private by design. You become friends with someone in one of two ways, and both people must agree: by exchanging a friend code, or by tapping Add Friend next to a name you met on a leaderboard or in a Rival Orbit duel (you can switch off requests from players you meet in the Friends screen, and a friend code always works). There is no search by name, no list of players, no chat, no typed messages, no photos and no links. The only messages are a short list of fixed pings (a cheer, a taunt, a nudge) and duel invitations, and none contains text written by a player. A friend can see your display name, your leaderboard scores, whether you have played today, and your duel record against them. You can remove a friend, block a player (they can no longer add you or ping you, and your code stops working for them), or report a name at any time. A duel between friends works like a normal Rival Orbit duel and only the head-to-head win count between the two of you is kept. Nothing in Friends earns or spends Stardust or gives a gameplay advantage.

Advertising

Splorb displays ads through Google AdMob: a banner, a short ad between some runs (unless you have removed ads), and an optional rewarded ad you can choose to watch for a second chance in a run. To do this, Google may collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, general device information, and approximate location, in order to show and measure ads. Google's own privacy policy governs this collection: policies.google.com/privacy.

We request non-personalized ads only, so ads are not tailored to your past activity. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK), Google shows you a consent form the first time the game starts, and you can change your choice later under "Ad privacy choices" in Settings. Splorb is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly serve ads to users under 13. Ads never change Stardust, scores or leaderboards: a rewarded ad can only give you a second chance in a run.

In-app purchases

Splorb offers optional one-time purchases (e.g. removing ads, cosmetic items, the Season Pass) processed entirely through Google Play's billing system (Apple's App Store once Splorb is released on iOS). We do not receive or store your payment card details; these are handled directly by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies. To unlock what you bought, the game sends the purchase receipt from Google Play (an order ID and purchase token) to our server, which checks it with Google. We keep that record (the product, the order ID, the date, and your anonymous player ID) for store and financial record-keeping, and Google may tell us if a purchase is later refunded so we can remove the item.

Analytics and crash reporting

Splorb can use Google Firebase Analytics in the Android app to learn, in aggregate, how the game is played so we can fix problems and improve it. It is off until you say yes. The first time you reach the Home screen the game asks, once, whether you want to share anonymous usage data. If you say no, or never answer, nothing is sent. You can change your choice at any time in Settings with Share Anonymous Usage Data, and your choice is remembered.

If you say yes, Splorb records a small set of gameplay events: a run starting or ending (with the game mode, score, length in seconds and number of merges), finishing the tutorial, an ad being watched (rewarded or between runs), a purchase completing (the item only, never payment details), a share, a friend being added, and a friend duel finishing (won or lost). It does not record your display name, friend codes, friends' names or anything you type. Firebase also receives the usual technical data a Google SDK collects automatically, such as a random app-instance identifier, device model, operating system version, app version, language and approximate (country-level) location. We turn off Firebase's advertising-identifier collection and ad-personalization signals, and we do not use analytics data for advertising. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms (firebase.google.com/support/privacy). Because analytics is opt-in, the same choice applies to players everywhere, including the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Google Play itself may also give us aggregated, anonymous crash and performance statistics.

Children's privacy

Splorb is for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Splorb does not ask for your name, email or date of birth. If you are under 13, please do not use Splorb. If you believe a child under 13 has used Splorb, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will delete that player's data. Some countries set a higher age for consent to data processing or to buy things online; where that applies, please get a parent or guardian's permission first.
